The term “detailing” gets thrown around a lot these days—from the $20 tunnel wash to the $2,000 multi-day restoration. If you’re confused about what you actually need, you’re not alone. This is your “cheat sheet” to understanding the levels of car care.
Level 1: Maintenance Cleaning
This is your routine upkeep. It involves a safe hand wash, wheel cleaning, and a light interior vacuum. This is for cars that are already in good shape and just need to stay that way.
Level 2: Deep Decontamination
This is where the magic happens. We use clay bars and iron removers to pull “embedded” grit out of the paint that a normal wash misses. This stage is essential if you want your paint to feel smooth and your wax to actually last.
Level 3: Paint Correction & Protection
This is the “Elite” level. We use machine polishers to physically remove swirl marks and scratches from the clear coat. Once the paint is perfect, we seal it in with a Ceramic Coating or PPF. This isn’t just a cleaning; it’s a restoration of the vehicle’s value.
